Good Afternoon!
For this week, I wanted to take a look at King Thutmose IV!
King Thutmose lived during the 18th dynasty, which was during the peak of the Ancient Egyptian empire. He reigned for 10 years before passing away. The specific process that embalmers had in place left a wonderfully preserved body that can be view today in Cairo.
Now, let's look at the King himself:
While the muscle is practically gone, the cheekbones and even the hair remain intact. He's got a smile that had remained throughout the millennia. The hair appears reddish and flattened, but do keep in mind that the salts used during the embalming process may have bleached his hair color and the use of henna that was common during his time.
It's been estimated that he passed during his mid-to-late 20s.
